Gata Fijian War Club

Usually cut from a hardwood type of ironwood (vesi), it has a snake or rifle shaped head. The word Gata means snake in Fijian language. The Gata club are similar to the Sali club but have a cutting edge to snap and cut bone. The weapon can be used for war but also for traditional dances and ceremonies.
